Hi, I’m Jasmine B! In rural TN, my grandparents learned how to carve their space in the world. My grandad was the first African-American elected to public office in his county and an award-winning civil rights trailblazer, and my grandmother, was an educator and held many other careers. Throughout their lives, they maintained faith, grew as servant-leaders, and cultivated a close family.

Reflecting on the impact of my grandparents has helped me realize the importance of knowing, capturing, and sharing our stories. As a *creative, my art includes glimpses of faith, service, family, food, justice, hope, and, most importantly, love, rooted in, and dedicated to, their spirit.

P.S. Wind chimes remind me of my grandparents’ home — a space filled with laughter, family, and good food.
